Capcom released patch notes for Street Fighter 6 on March 16, 2026, bringing significant updates after a five-month content drought. The most notable addition is the character Alex, introduced as part of the Season 3 DLC, alongside various balance adjustments affecting the entire cast.

The patch includes new costumes for characters Elena and Dee Jay, enhancing the visual appeal of the game. Additionally, a collaboration with Mega Man Battle Network / Star Force was announced, further expanding the game’s crossover potential.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, overhead attacks that can combo from a Drive Rush have been standardized to be -3 on block, which aims to create a more balanced competitive environment. A.K.I. received a notable boost, with her Drive Gauge gain increased by 2000 when triggering Toxic Blossom, allowing for more strategic play.

Furthermore, Akuma saw improvements to his Gou Hadoken move, with an increase in damage from 1200 to 1350 and a reduction in total recovery time from 84 to 77 frames. The fully held version of this attack now has a Drive Gauge consumption adjustment, increasing from -3000 to -4000 on block.

In response to community feedback, Blanka‘s Blanka-chan Bomb strength was reduced to alleviate situations with high return and little counterplay. The patch also introduced a universal adjustment that adds 3 frames to buffer input time on wake-up, aiming to improve player experience.

Players will notice that pressing Up during a Drive Rush screen freeze will now result in a jump, and Drive Rush/Drive Impact inputs will overwrite previous inputs in certain situations, adding layers to the gameplay mechanics.

As the community absorbs these changes, observers expect that the new balance adjustments will lead to a more dynamic competitive scene. Details remain unconfirmed regarding how these changes will affect tournament play and character viability in the long term.
