Ashley A. Fisler, a 36-year-old former teacher at Orchard Valley Middle School, has been arrested and is facing serious charges of sexual assault involving a student. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Fisler is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual activities with a minor, which reportedly took place in 2021.

Fisler faces a total of eight charges, including six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor, and one count each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct. Each first-degree charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, while the second-degree charges could result in up to 10 years behind bars.

The investigation into Fisler’s alleged actions began after the victim, now an adult, disclosed the relationship on January 23, 2026. The victim described multiple sexual encounters occurring in Fisler’s vehicle and in her classroom. Investigators corroborated these claims by uncovering text messages exchanged between Fisler and the victim.

Since April 2023, Fisler has not been employed by the Washington Township School District. Eric M. Hibbs, the superintendent of Washington Township Public Schools, stated, “The district is aware of the charges announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a former middle school teacher. We take matters involving the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously.”

The community has reacted with shock and concern. Parent Eric Sebastian expressed his disbelief, stating, “Scary, you know you hear about it in Florida or somewhere. This is too close to us, literally right across the street.” Neighbor Olivia Axelrod added, “Honestly it’s unbelievable to even think that could happen and also nobody saw it, you know. It’s horrible.”

Fisler is currently being held in the Salem County Jail, with her first court hearing scheduled for March 27, 2026. The investigation was conducted by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department, highlighting the seriousness with which local authorities are treating the case.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further developments in the case, but the community is awaiting the court’s proceedings and the implications they may have for the involved parties.
