Altercation in Las Vegas
An altercation reportedly occurred between Bam Adebayo and former Miami Heat teammate Tyler Herro at a practice court in Las Vegas on Friday morning. According to reports, Adebayo allegedly punched Herro in the face as they were leaving the court. The incident reportedly stemmed from comments Herro made about Adebayo on social media following Herro’s trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Heat organization stated, “We are aware and not commenting,” when asked about the incident. The Bucks also declined to comment. Herro was later seen courtside at a Heat–Bucks summer league game on Friday afternoon, where he reportedly interacted with members of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Social Media Comments and Team Dynamics
The tension between the former teammates reportedly escalated after Herro posted a graphic on his Instagram Story. This graphic highlighted players with the worst field goal percentage from midrange, featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was traded to Miami, and Adebayo. Antetokounmpo was listed first with a 26.8 percent shooting accuracy, while Adebayo was tenth at 35.9 percent.
Additionally, direct messages were reportedly leaked that showed Herro criticizing the Heat center. In one instance, a fan argued that Adebayo’s contract was justified due to his status as a “top five defender” who averages 20 and 10. Herro, without explicitly naming Adebayo, reportedly countered that a player should not receive a substantial salary for being a good defender on certain nights.
Adebayo is currently playing under a three-year, $160 million deal with Miami. Despite Herro’s alleged comments regarding a $60 million payment, Adebayo did not earn that amount during the 2025-26 season and is not projected to earn it next season.
Trade Details and Player History
The physical confrontation follows a significant trade that sent Antetokounmpo to the Heat. As part of this blockbuster deal on June 22, the Heat sent Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick to Milwaukee. In return, Miami received Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
Prior to this trade, reports indicated that Adebayo was the only player the Heat was unwilling to include in trade discussions. This stance reportedly led to “a level of resentment” among multiple former Miami Heat players who viewed Adebayo as the “chosen one” within the organization, particularly given his substantial contract extension and consistent exclusion from trade rumors.
Adebayo has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Heat since being selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. During his tenure, he has earned six All-Defensive selections and three All-Star nods, contributing to the team’s two NBA Finals appearances. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also expanded his shooting range, making 127 three-pointers after hitting 102 triples in his first eight seasons combined.
Herro was drafted by the Heat in 2019 with the No. 13 pick. He spent seven seasons with Miami, averaging 19.5 points, five rebounds, and 4.1 assists. The tension between Adebayo and Herro is notable, given their history as teammates for several seasons.
