Blue Jays Eyeing Potential Sales

After a disappointing start to the current season, dropping 13 of their first 20 games and holding the worst record in the AL East at 48-58, the organization appears ready to make changes. Their run differential of minus-62 is the fourth-worst in the American League.
According to one report, the Blue Jays have created the perception that they are “conceding and wading into the sell waters.” This could have a substantial impact on the trade market, as they have several pending free agents who could attract teams looking to contend. Among these players are starting pitchers Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber, outfielders Daulton Varso and George Springer, and former closer Jeff Hoffman, who could be in demand due to a league-wide need for relief pitching.
Yankees and Red Sox Among Abrams Suitors
CJ Abrams, a shortstop for the Washington Nationals, has garnered significant attention ahead of the trade deadline. Abrams made his second All-Star appearance this month and has achieved career-highs with 27 home runs and 82 RBI. His slash line of .297/.367/.573 is also on track to surpass his previous personal bests.
While the Nationals are not actively shopping Abrams, they are reportedly willing to listen to offers. The New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers have been identified as potential contenders who might seek an upgrade at shortstop. Additionally, the Boston Red Sox are reportedly monitoring Abrams, along with Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto. The Yankees, specifically, have faced challenges at the catcher position, with their catchers combining for a 45 wRC+, the second-worst mark in the league. While they could add a platoon partner, aiming higher to replace their current options completely is also a consideration.
