Bruins to Honor Bergeron

The Boston Bruins announced plans to retire Patrice Bergeron’s No. 37 during the upcoming 2026-27 season. This ceremony is a key event in the expanded 84-game schedule recently released by the NHL. The number retirement will take place on December 1, coinciding with a game against the Avalanche. This honor follows Bergeron’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Bergeron, a recipient of the Selke Award six times, will see his jersey raised to the rafters alongside Zdeno Chara’s No. 33, which was retired last season. Both players were central figures in the franchise’s leadership for over a decade, a period highlighted by their Stanley Cup championship in 2011.

“To have my number retired by the Boston Bruins is an honor that is difficult to put into words,” Bergeron stated last month when the announcement was made. “When I arrived in Boston as an 18-year-old, I could never have imagined receiving this recognition one day … To Bruins fans across New England, thank you for welcoming a young French-Canadian and making this place feel like home.”

2026-27 Season Schedule Highlights

The Bruins are set to open their season with a home game against the Rangers on September 29. The schedule also features various themed nights at home. These include a Mental Health Awareness night on October 10, Hockey Fights Cancer on October 22, Military Appreciation Night on November 2, Teacher Appreciation Night on January 14, and Women in Sports Night on March 8.

The season will end with April road games in Toronto on the 5th, Buffalo on the 7th, Sunrise, Fla. on the 9th, and Tampa Bay on the 10th.
